Job Purpose

The Community Fundraising & Events Manager leads the growth and delivery of GOAL’s community fundraising portfolio, including flagship campaigns GOAL Mile and Jersey Day. The role combines strategic campaign leadership with hands‑on community engagement, ensuring strong supporter stewardship, high‑quality events, and year‑on‑year income growth.

**Please note this role is a maternity leave contract until June 2027 - role is based in our HQ office in Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin with 2 days in office attendance per week **

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Campaign Leadership

  • Develop and deliver GOAL’s community fundraising and events strategy.
  • Lead long‑term growth of GOAL Mile and Jersey Day.
  • Identify opportunities to maximise income and test new fundraising approaches.
  • Expand income channels including digital fundraising, street activations and merchandise sales.
  • Conduct campaign reviews and report quarterly on key fundraising KPIs.

Community Relationship Management & Stewardship

  • Act as primary contact for community and school organisers.
  • Build strong relationships with local stakeholders to increase retention and participation.
  • Provide proactive stewardship to ensure supporters feel connected to GOAL’s impact.
  • Develop fundraising toolkits and organiser resources.
  • Recruit and nurture new organisers and strengthen regional engagement.

Campaign Delivery

  • Lead planning and operational delivery of GOAL Mile & Jersey Day.
  • Liaise with community groups, corporates and schools to drive involvement.
  • Oversee recruitment and coordination of volunteers during peak periods.
  • Monitor participation and campaign performance to meet annual targets.
  • Ensure a consistent, high‑quality supporter experience.

Marketing, Communications & Digital Engagement

  • Develop and oversee campaign communications across digital, social, print and PR.
  • Work with Comms to ensure strong, consistent brand visibility.
  • Build segmented email journeys for organisers and participants.
  • Manage supporter data within GOAL’s CRM (MS365).
  • Use engagement insights to refine campaign performance.

Fundraising Platforms & Income Processing

  • Support organisers with iDonate and other digital fundraising tools.
  • Promote Tap‑to‑Donate devices and cashless fundraising at events.
  • Manage online fundraising platforms and ensure accurate data recording.
  • Support income reconciliation and compliance with fundraising best practice.

Partnerships & External Relationships

  • Build and manage relationships with partners, venues and suppliers.
  • Work closely with Corporate Fundraising to activate corporate partnerships.
  • Engage schools, clubs, councils and community organisations to expand reach.

Teamwork & Cross‑Department Collaboration

  • Line‑manage the Community Fundraising & Events Assistant.
  • Work closely with Fundraising, Communications, Programmes and Finance teams.
  • Coordinate staff and volunteer support during major campaign periods.

Administration & Logistics

  • Manage logistics, event stock and campaign materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of communications, income and supporter activity.
  • Provide administrative support to ensure smooth running of community campaigns.

Experience

  • Proven background in fundraising, events, marketing, or community engagement within the NGO sector or similar environments.
  • Track record of delivering large‑scale campaigns and meeting income targets.
  • Skilled in working with schools and community organisations.
  • Strong understanding of donor stewardship and supporter journeys.
  • Proficient in CRM systems (ideally Dynamics) and online fundraising platforms.

Other Requirements

  • Full clean driver’s licence and access to a vehicle (essential).
  • Willingness to travel throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland.
  • Flexibility to work some evenings/weekends during peak campaign periods.
