UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office

GOAL has partnered with and received funding from the UK Government's Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), formerly the Department for International Development (DFID), for our work in long-term development and humanitarian response since 2011. We continue to work closely together to deliver impact across a number of countries for vulnerable communities.

Working with the support of UK Aid

In the last eight years FCDO has supported long-term development and humanitarian response in five of GOAL's country programs: Malawi, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Syria, and Uganda. Highlights include:

  • Sierra Leone: Funded by FCDO's Emergency Ebola Response Fund (DEERF) GOAL established treatment and isolation centers, improved WASH services, and mentored health workers on Ebola prevention and disease control methods.
  • Uganda: 2014-2018 saw GOAL work with FCDO on 'Accountability Can Transform Health' - leading a consortium of programmatic and research partners to reach over 20,000 people in 18 districts.

  • South Sudan: GOAL is currently leading a consortium on 'Resilient Communities through Viable Economic Recovery' as part of the Humanitarian & Resilience Program in South Sudan (HARISS).
  • Malawi: PROSPER (Promoting Sustainable Partnerships for Empowered Resilience) helped build resilience in food security in 9,000 households with a seed subsidy in advance of the next rainfed agricultural season when Malawi.
